Lancaster Music Festival Is Back!

1 October

After taking a year off in 2025 – Glastonbury style – Lancaster Music Festival is back with a bang! With more than five hundred shows (yes, you read that right, five hundred) in venues all across the city over the course of four days, there really is something for everyone. And, much like Glastonbury, the range of genres and artists is truly mind-blowing, I couldn’t possibly list them all here, but if you visit the LMF website, you can download the full schedule.

Lancaster Music Festival is one of the country’s biggest urban music festivals, and one of the things that makes it so special is it’s not just about the big name acts it pulls in; it gives a chance for bands and acts from all over the place to showcase themselves. And there really is something for everyone. From a “ten piece Sea Shanty Band” to “Hard Rock Trio” to “Soulful, funky, danceable Blues” and many many more, the genres span the wonderful and the weird. I know that I’ll be checking out some of the ones that made me do a double take when I looked at the listing: “hurdy gurdy and Galician Pipes” – I don’t know what that is, but I want to!

What I really like about Lancaster Music Festival is very inclusive. Local groups and causes are actively encouraged to get involved, and there’s events and activities for all ages. The local amateur dramatic groups are showcasing their upcoming shows (LADOS – ‘We Will Rock You’ on at Lancaster Grand Theatre in November, will be doing a showcase in the Market Square on Saturday 10/09), there’s activities for local families and children to get involved, and there’s also talks on the music industry, the history of music, and other exciting topics. There really is something for everyone!
